The subject of the study was the functional and utility programme together with the concept for the implementation of the task involving the reconstruction of the K-85, K-65, K-35, K-15 hill, the construction of the K-25 hill together with the accompanying infrastructure at the Central Sports Centre – Olympic Preparation Centre in Zakopane, on the basis of which the Ministry of Sport transferred funds for the implementation of the task. The investment included the construction of a cable car.

The next stage was the development of construction and execution documentation together with obtaining building permits and certification of the facility in accordance with the instructions of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).

The main goal of the project was to create a sports facility of the Średnia Krokiew ski resort, adapted to the needs of the general public, i.e. to train ski jumpers (training, ski jumping lessons for young people), with the possibility of conducting championship-level competitions / contests – e.g. the World Cup, the Continental Cup, and in the future, possibly, the World Championships, as well as other sporting events, such as jumping contests, as part of the Olympic Games.

The reconstruction, extension and modernisation of the Średnia Krokiew facility was prepared in accordance with the requirements and approved by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and the Polish Ski Association (PZN), taking into account the conditions resulting from the use of modern technologies for covering the ski jump approach and landing area, and taking into account the possibility of interference with the rock mass. In addition, the developed programme and concept fully meet the standards and recommendations of FIS.

The project is located at the junction of the Tatra Mountains and the Zakopane Basin on the northern slope of Mt. Krokiew and at its foot. The ski jumping hills and the upper part of the supports of the existing and planned railway are located in the area of the Tatra National Park and in the “Tatra Mountains” Natura 2000 area. The area covered by the study is fully developed with the facilities of the Średnia Krokiew Ski Jumping Ensemble, located to the east of Wielka Krokiew.
