DATE OF CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT: 2020

The subject of the study was the functional and utility programme together with the concept for the implementation of the task involving the revitalisation of the Classic Skiing Facility in Harrachov.

The basic design intention was to create a sports facility for the ski jumping hill and cross-country trails under the name “Classic Skiing Facility in Harrachov” adapted to perform the basic task, i.e. training ski jumpers (training, ski jumping lessons for young people) and cross-country skiers with the possibility of conducting championship-level competitions / contests – e.g. the World Cup, the Continental Cup, and in the future, possibly, the World Championships and other sports events, such as jumping competitions as part of the Olympic Games.

Harrachov is one of the most popular cities in the Liberec Region and the most famous winter resort in Czechia. The most important element of the city is the Čerťák ski jump facility built on the slope of Čertova hora.

As part of the development of the concept, the facility was redesigned in the following scope:

SMALL JUMPING HILLS FACILITY

  • K-70 hill,
  • K-90 hill,
  • accompanying infrastructure (starting tower, judges’ tower, cable car, construction of a new multifunctional building including, among others, stands for spectators with a capacity of at least 500 people, cloakroom for jumpers, accommodation house, garage and technical rooms)

LARGE JUMPING HILLS FACILITY

The design intention was to preserve the characteristic structure of the mammoth jumping hill. The whole facility is supplemented with vertical transportation routes such as a staircase and a lift. In addition to the required function, necessary to support competitions in accordance with the FIS guidelines, new elements such as a café with a viewpoint and a climbing wall were introduced.

  • K-125 hill,
  • K-200 hill,
  • accompanying infrastructure (cloakroom and refreshment rooms, multifunctional building, facilities for competitors and the cable car, construction of stands for spectators with a capacity of at least 2,000 seats, coach boxes and media support facilities)

CROSS-COUNTRY TRAILS

  • cross-country trails 3.75 km
  • accompanying infrastructure (cross-country skiing loop with FIS approval, systems for, among others, snowmaking, snow storage, lighting for the cross-country trails, a sports stadium with a track for athletics, a judges’ tower and a jury’s tower, a dressing room for competitors)
